New Deal and Flexible New Deal Exposed

Going a long way back now but 16 yrs ago [i was 20 yrs old] i had to attend a similar scheme for two weeks [cant remember the name of the company that ran the courses for the job centre at the time sorry]

At the end of my totally useless placement [seems not much has changed] I was asked to go upstairs into the office of one of the course leaders, he spoke to me then handed me a sealed envelope that he asked me not to open until i had left……it was a short letter saying how much he fancied me and that he would like to take me out for a drink, he put his mobile phone number on it.

I was offended by it, i had also found the man to be a bit of a letch throughout the 2 weeks i was there.

Again i was 20 yrs old he was probably at a guess in his late 30s.

I gave his letter to the advisor at the job centre the following week…..i heard nothing further about it.

Im sure this goes on a lot.

Is it just me, or does anyone else think that “Work for your Benefit” sounds a lot like “Arbeit Macht Frei”?

I heard about this case earlier. But what hope is there really? It’s going to take major civil unrest to undo the knots tied by this government and the last. We’re in a stranglehold and while I fully support this campaign, I don’t see what can really be done. The government won’t give a damn about some facebook campaign and media propaganda has done such a job on the general public that any protest will be seen as the stirrings of the ‘do gooders’ they have been programmed to hate.

I would dearly love to be persuaded otherwise. I have a medical at the end of the month and I’m dreading it.

I hope this doesnt mean your lying down and giving up the good fight. Look at the figures. We have a right to protest lets think of ways we can protest within their rigid framework

tbh, its more of the case of branching out to provide regional support including for Work Programme and the Work for Your Benefit scheme.
