Comment on Job Centre New Deal waste of time? Play Games by unknown entity

I’ve recently finished a 12 week new deal course which has resulted in nothing that was promised by the job centre.

Overall, the course would of been worthwhile, if it had not been for only 6% of the total new deal base getting a job placement, with only 4% acually getting a full time job.

With abismal figures such as these, I cannot see the incentive? Yet another waste of tax payers money.

I assume it costs around £1000 per enrollment, and another £360 in training expenditures per enrollment (food etc) over the duration of the set 12 week period, taking travel expenditure into account the figure grows even more so. Can this money not be used as an incentive for companys to take young people on? I for one, would be in a full time job right now if this was the case.

WHAT A WASTE OF MY TIME, and to cap it all off, I have been signed off job seekers allowance and have had to spend a further £6 on public transport to rectify the situation.

Back to square one but with the steam taken out of my engine. I have recieved 70 pound in benefits too last the next fortnight as their systems have made an error that they claim they may not be able to rectify (scam). That leaves me with no possible way of funding a job search activity and cutting my food intake down too 9p noodles and beans on toast…

THANKS ALOT NEW DEAL.

Sarah: People understandably want to dodge the Flexible New Deal Brigade.

I wouldn’t be too concerned about whether it’s 3 or 6 months. If you have a history of irregular work you can be fast-tracked to Flexible New Deal and it’s replacement The Work Programme – commencing 2011.

With rising numbers of long-term unempoyed the new government are now referring claimants to the Flexible New Deal and other job programs much sooner.

But as I said, it really depends on your jobcentre. I don’t suppose taking a temp job will do any harm. But no one will give you a 100% guarantee that will delay beiing put on

Do you happen to know how many jobs David Cameron has had?
answer – one, and what age is he? He got a job at the top of advertising or something because he went to Eton.

read this- this man is a heartless swine, he makes Hitler look good,
only reason he’s not unemployed is ‘cos his ancestors stole from other people and his wife is a millionaire because of that also.

Comment on Jobseekers Agreement by Sarah

Hi,

I have just opened a rapid restart claim for JSA after being signed off JSA for 14 weeks(I signed off 26th April 2010), I went to my first interview today and am due to sign this friday for the first time, they also are saying the FND course I was due to go on before I signed off last time, I have to go on it this time (ie continue where I left off) I am due to do that next tuesday, thing is I have now been offered a low paid temporary job that will last 3 months, is it possible to cancel my claim and make a new one in 3 months and not have to go onto the FND course again? If I cancel now without receiving any money from them, in 3 months time would my next claim be a new one or still classed as a rapid restart again?

In other words by the time I make a claim for JSA in 3 months time would it be classed that I haven’t been on JSA for 6 months or only 3 months? As I really do not want to do some work and then have to sign on and do a FND course.

Thank you

Comment on Flexible New Deal: Millions stranded in No Man’s Land by Julie

I am on “stage 4″ and attend an independent recruitment adviser every two weeks as well as the jobcentreplus to “sign on”.
The adviser told me that if I get a job I will not be entitled to the £250 job grant I would have received previously as a lone parent retirning to work.
Worried how on earth I would get through the first month until pay day with no work clothes or money for fares to work etc if I do find a job, I phoned my Lone Parent Adviser at the Jobcentreplus….. who told me I would still get it!
Does anyone know which is correct please?
Thanks, Julie

Comment on Social Security: JSA Benefit Sanctions are Unlawful! by Tony

These sanctions are discrimatory as they put greater pressure on those in the greatest need. Single young people often have very little to lose financialy. Families and lone parents and older people can (in extreme cases) find themselves having amenities diconnected or even being evicted.

The very existence of sanctions suggests organisational predjudice. If all people are treated equally and with respect, the system has to assume that all people are trying thier best to find find work and may require some help. This system starts with the assumption that all people submitting a claim are potentially lazy scroungers who need bullying into work with threats of financial punishment. How can this be lawful?

Comment on Enough is enough: complaint to New Deal Personal Adviser by unemployble

After 20 years of employment I was made redundant, for the past 3 years have been unemployed. I am being forced to go on a work placement, fortunately I have found my own, not in something I am trained in but a totally new field but I now find myself in dispute with Calder UK regarding expenses for this work placement, whilst they are happy to pay travel expenses, they are refusing to pay any lunch expenses claiming that I should be using my JSA for that. I have explained several times to them that money is tight and I skip lunch every day but the work placement I will be doing will be manual work which will mean I have to eat lunch. Am I wrong in thinking that they HAVE to pay all reasonable expenses and that lunch comes under that heading?

Comment on New Deal: free labour, boredom and higher living costs by Sammy

Mr. X

Yes, I, and I’m sure a lot of ppl are reading and sympathising with your situation. I’m educated, well qualified and yet can find no work either (of any kind). The FND I am on have got my hopes up, lied to me, tried to throw me off the scheme and the levels to which they are prepared to go to do this appall me. It’s stressful. Looking at it longer term though, these providers seem to be on a slippery slope 2 and if the govt. of the day want to save cash, they will get the axe soon. Only bad thing, there will be MORE unemployed! The ‘workers’ at my FND are all panicking quietly, they KNOW there are no jobs. The ceiling with crash on them soon, the ‘businessmen’ who have launched these schemes will be the only ones laughing and walking away with tax payer’s cash. Don’t give up, your Mum loves and needs you, and I’m sure she thinks you’re a real hero in the circumstances. Keep going, things always change, even if it takes times.

Comment on National Minimum Wage to be dissolved by Kyron

Hard man, unfortunately you aint got much choice yet again the giovernments recent spin making out everyone is a bludger and thief that claims benefits means alot of the uninformed public dont look so favourable on the unemployed.

WORKFARE is coming to these shores, designed to enslave the unemployed, destroy unions, break strikes, lower living standards effectively scrap minimum wage as you will be training for roughly £1.70 an hours if your lucky in other words supermarkets will get you to stack their shelves for six months and your still unempoloyed and only entitled to 64 pound, you don;’t turn up you get sanctioned no money, your rude, no money, you do anything unsupervised including the wwiping of your own backside and you get sanctioned and you get nothing. The name of the game is confom or die. My so called specialist advisor at Beaconncentre for the blind told me to stop whining my choice to sign on if i dont like it then i can F.O

They have been otulawed bythe DWP but are you aware that the so called 3rd party providers mentioning no names aren’t bound by that and will in all probably pimp their own grannies if theirs a profit in it. and you say no you open yourself to a sanction from a quangos, They wantto know everything they want to be all intrusive they want to be nasty, threatening and generally little power mad hittlers that will shaft you over as soon as look at you.

Comment on Jobcentre Plus staff Vs Unemployed Professionals by Kyron

I am saddened to say yes you are expected to do everything right down to but not nescessarily including the wiping of the Jcp staff backsides for them.

They treat you liek crap, they keep you in the dark, they can sanction you on a whim, if you love this youll love flexible new deal, soon to be slave labour workfare your benefit, 30 hours workplacement you get travel maybe on a monthly or weekly basis reimbursement, 10 Hours to do your jobsearch, you are also expected to sign on, visit a 3rd party provider what will see you in all probability see you as a giant £ sign. During your time at these 3rd party places they will treat you like shit, generally threaten, intimidate and try to shaft you.

Hardman complain kick up a fuss visit your local mp, write letters. Secret to a better sign on experience remember they are just people designed to push paper work, if your rude with them they more likely to be rude to you.

Comment on Flexible New Deal and Pathways to Work subcontractor Dering Employment Services calls in the administrators by ken

sadly charitable organisations have become tainted by their associations with business figures and their controversial statements regarding the unemployed, sir digby jones quoted here as being one example

Chairman of the Cancer Research UK Corporate Board. He is also a Fellow of UNICEF

http://www.cityspeakersinternational.co.uk/speakers/speaker_digby_jones.php

in a statement that the young unemployed should be staved back to work is both against interests of holding any position of prominence which should be totally neutral of such comments’ and should be considered a matter of immediate resignation.there are others too such as emma harrison and the british heart foundation links this to is a conflict of interests and potentially controversial, although gathering that this has now ceased.

the governments’ have sought to involve these groups in the hope that this will forward a pathway to employment in doing so its created an unacceptable abuse of charitable status due to the methods employed against those placed in its roles’/trust,instead of walking away from controversy charities’ perhaps unwittingly have allowed themselves to become embroiled in a damaging scandalous situation, this has applied not to just those on jobseekers but also those on incapacity benefit who are let down by these groups that are supposed to have sufferers they proport to support in name but have failed to stand against their mistreatment and downplaying of conditions by private medical and government hype with very improbable and unworkable plans .
